Holy Spirit Physical Education Program Philosophy
– The overall philosophy of the
current Physical Education program at Holy Spirit is to expose the students to a
variety of activities that promote a positive relationship between the
individual and the physically active lifestyle. The
younger children are involved in a range of “center style” activities
designed to reflect current developmental benchmarks and PE standards. The older
children are routinely exposed to a wide array of lifetime sports.
All the students are exposed to different group games and team sports.
These activities provide the foundation for learning and practicing the
basic components of group oriented physical activity (e.g., positive
sportsmanship, the ability to follow instruction and rules, and the initial
concepts of team work). The
following is a list of some of the activities and sports the children
participate in: ·
Volleyball ·
Ultimate Frisbee ·
Golf ·
Norwegian Kickball ·
Scooter games ·
Bowling ·
Jump rope ·
Basketball ·
Tumbling ·
Aerobics/Yoga
