NAN-O-GRAM
Thank you to everyone who came to the PTC meeting last night! It was very informational as well as another opportunity to eat and meet and greet.
I want to thank our PTC board for their massive energy and enthusiasm for this year’s planned activities. Please sign on to help in any way you can, either at a major school function, or at a student gathering, like Payoff or the Book Fair. Additionally, at school we always need help in the lunchroom.
Teachers generally have service projects that can be done at home, too, such as coloring file folder games, or supplying treats for a bake sale. Ask your child’s teacher. The opportunities to help throughout the year are endless…yet so appreciated and needed.
We always have a lot going on at the school for the kids, and the staff and I are very grateful for the support offered by parents, guardians and friends.
Keep reading to your kids!

SCHOOL
BOARD MEETING
The Holy Spirit Catholic School
Board will meet on Sept. 19, at
FRIDAY,
SEPTEMBER 21
Hold on to your hats as this looks to be a busy, busy day.
First, the students will get a little “Backpack Awareness” information courtesy
of Loriann Helgeson and her ISU Occupational Therapy Students. Second, there will be a “Stranger Danger”
program presented by the City of Pocatello Police Department and a group of
teenage volunteers. And third, is
September’s Pay-Off – “Ice Blocking”!
Students in kindergarten through sixth grade should bring a change of
clothes and towels that won’t be hurt if they get dirty and wet.
Now maybe you have these
questions in mind if you’re new to the school – What is Pay-off? This is a positive behavior reward system
that the school uses; each month students are treated to an afternoon of fun to
reward them for their good behavior.
Students who have received a blue ticket – major discipline ticket - are
not allowed to attend pay-off for the month in which they received their
ticket. Each month is a new activity for
the students to enjoy. Next question –
What is Ice Blocking? Well, we take the
students via the bus to Bartz Field (on the campus of ISU) where they slide down the hill on a block of
ice hence the reason for a towel. This
is usually one of the student’s favorite pay-off activities. Parents are welcome to join us in this
afternoon of fun.
Box Tops for Education
You can earn cash for your
child’s classroom by clipping and collecting Box Tops. Each Box Top is worth 10¢ to be spent by each
teacher, for her own individual classroom.
You’d be amazed how quickly that adds up.
Holy Spirit earned over $600.00
in Box Tops money last year. Our goal
this year is to reach $800.00. Attached
to this newsletter is a list of products that participate in the Box Tops for
Education program.
Are you planning on ordering
anything from Oriental Trading for Halloween?
Sign on to boxtops4education.com first and register under Holy Spirit
Catholic School and the school will receive 4% of your purchase!

SCHOOL
SWEATSHIRTS
As the weather turns cooler we have had many inquiries
regarding school “logo” sweatshirts.
Look for order forms to be going home with next week’s newsletter.
The
fall campaign for collecting the pink Yoplait Yogurt lids promoting Breast
Cancer awareness has begun. In 2005,
Holy Spirit’s contribution to this most worthy cause was 389 lids, and last
year (2006) we beat our goal of 400…406!
Our new goal is 450! Remember this is a seasonal program and the
pink lids are only produced in September and October, and besides, yogurt is so
good for you! We have a container set up
in the hall, or your child can turn them in to their teacher anytime.
Thank you very much!
The seasons are definitely
changing! With the cooler weather, you
may be purchasing more soup. Remember to
save the UPC code from the
Last year the teachers received
new pull down screens in their rooms to be used with an overhead projector. So bring in those labels and help us
accumulate more points!

HSCS third graders once again
are participating in the SEICAA Stone Soup Celebration art contest. One student is selected to represent our

you donate, remember to send in foods that are nonperishable and well packaged.
TRAFFIC ON
Don’t
forget to sign the petition in the school hallway regarding the traffic on 7th. We would love to get a four way stop at 7th

squeaky wheel gets fixed first (or something like that!).
