NAN-O-GRAM

Hope to see all of you at the Jack and the Beanstalk production tomorrow night and Saturday afternoon. It is absolutely amazing what the producers from the Missoula Children’s Theater, this year Liz and Erin, can do with the kids in such a short time. Yesterday’s rehearsal gave me goose bumps!  The troupe is singing and dancing like pros, and having such a great time. If you have not been to one of these plays, you are in for a real treat.

I can’t thank enough the PTC board and all the volunteers for their dedication to making this event such a wonderful experience for the children. This is what memories are made of…

            Keep reading to your kids!

PICTURE RE-TAKES

Lifetouch will be here on Oct. 23 to re-take pictures for those students who didn’t like their pictures or who were absent.  Students will need to bring their picture packets with them on that day if they want to have them retaken.

Smith’s Earn & Learn

Thank you to the parents and friends of Holy Spirit Catholic School who shop at Smith’s.  We recently received a check for $2,134.34 for shopping done last year.  That’s four times more than the previous year. Wow!

Last year’s participation membership for Smith’s Earn & Learn is expired.  Be sure to take in the Smith’s paper that was sent home and have the bar code scanned with your Fresh Values Rewards Card next time you shop.  Extra Smith’s Earn and Learn forms are available in the front hallway of the school.

HEADPHONES FOR COMPUTERS

Now that we have a functional computer lab, the students in grades K-6 need to have a set of headphones for their use.  The health department advises that each child have their own set for sanitary reasons.  These headphones can be either digital or analogue.  Please send them into school in a plastic bag with their name on it.  Thank you.

 GIFT WRAP/COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISERS

Don’t forget that all orders for gift wrap/cookie dough orders are due tomorrow!!  Please send them into your child’s teacher.

SCHOOL DIRECTORY

Free advertising!  Yes, we would love to list your business in our school directory!  If you would like to be included please send in a note with the name of your business, your name, business address and/or call Miss Polly.

TRUCKLOAD OF FOOD

The truckload of food that was to arrive on Thursday, Oct. 19 (??????????) arrived this morning – obviously I wasn’t the only one confused!  So, no need to come tomorrow!

COME ONE – COME ALL!

Please make plans to attend Jack and the Beanstalk presented by the students from Holy Spirit with the help of Missoula Theater.  Performances are scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19 and 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20.  Tickets can be purchased in the school office for $5.00 per person or $20.00 per family.  Tickets are good for both shows.

The students have been working so hard, and would love to have a full house at both shows!  In the past these shows have really been very entertaining, so grab the kids and head on over.  Performances will be held in the school gym.  If you are unable to afford a ticket for your family, please notify the office and the PTC will provide a ticket for you.

NEW THIS WEEK

Enclosed this week is a copy of Partners in Faith, a   monthly publication purchased for our families by the school.  We hope that this can assist you in helping your child grow in their Catholic faith.  We encourage you to take the time to read it and share it with your child.  We would love to hear from you on how you like it, so let us know!

                Here are a few highlights:

  • Children first learn about God’s love from their parents.  The lead article on page 1 gives parents 11 ways parents can show love for their children in ways similar to those God uses to show us love.

  • One of Jesus’ strictest instructions to us involves forgiveness.  The lead article on page 2 gives parents ideas for helping children see the “benefits” of forgiving as Jesus asked.

  • In ParentTalk, a parent gives ideas for curing the habit of lying.

OCTOBER PAY-OFF/HALLOWEEN

This year we are going to combine Halloween fun with pay-off, by having Gross Grub and Halloween activities all on the same day – HALLOWEEN!  But, in order to pull it off we need lots of help for the day and into the evening of Halloween.

During the afternoon of Halloween, the students in grades K-6 will travel from classroom to classroom doing different activities from looking for worms (gummy) in whip cream, eating “Gross Grub”, to watching a great science experiment.  Two volunteers from each class will be needed to assist the teacher.  If you would like to help, please let your child’s teacher know.  Plus, if you have a great “Gross Grub” recipe and would like to share, please feel free to do so.  Students will be allowed to wear their Halloween costume from lunchtime on.

Come night time, the PTC is also hosting a Halloween dinner in the cafeteria as well as Trunk or Treat on the playground.  They will need help with the food part, so once again please let your teacher know if you can help, or sign up on the sheet in the school hallway.

Some of you may be wondering just what is Trunk or Treat?  Well, instead of kids going from house-to-house collecting candy – they go from trunk-to-trunk.  Parents park their cars on the school playground and the kids go from car-to-car collecting candy.  Decorated trunks are always welcome but not a must.  This has been extremely popular with the kids, so please join us for the fun.  Sign up sheets are in the school hallway or you can let your child’s teacher know.

HALLOWEEN COSTUMES

Our school values and principles will not sanction any costume that promotes any kind of violence, blood and guts, or demonic theme.  No accessories will be permitted that include knives, swords, guns or any weapon-type items.

Also, please be attentive to masks that impair vision and costumes that might be flammable or that prohibit ease of movement.

Praise the Lord!

Happy are those who fear the Lord.

Yes, happy are those who delight in doing

What he commands.  Their children will be

Successful everywhere; an entire generation

Of godly people will be blessed.
