NAN-O-GRAM

It was recently reported in the Journal that Pocatello/ Chubbuck School District #25 is opting to change their “snow day” or inclement weather policy. The new plan states that school would be delayed rather than canceled, with periodic assessments those mornings, and if there is a positive change in the weather, the buses would run and school would start at a later time.

Holy Spirit School will not be following this policy. We think that it would be a logistical nightmare to have a delayed day. It is already difficult enough for parents/guardians when we do have snow days. To be put basically ‘on hold’ through a morning is asking way too much, especially considering we do not have a bus system to help with transportation. We’ve had very few snow days anyway in the past several years, so we will continue with our current policy. When District #25 declares a snow day, our school will be closed the entire day.

Keep reading to your fabulous kids!

COOKIE DOUGH

Thank you, thank you to everyone who participated in the Sally Foster Cookie Dough and Gifts Fundraiser, the school’s profit was $7,032.20!!!

Isn’t that great????!!!!!  Remember, that this indirectly affects you as it helps to keep the school costs down so yours stay down too!!!

We still have several tubs and pre-portioned containers of Triple Chocolate Chunk cookie dough for sale.  Please stop by the office if you would like to purchase some.

TOILITRIES

Once again the school will be putting together “goody sacks” for our homebound parishioners.  We will be collecting “hotel size toiletries” to put in the bags along with cards and letters from the students.  A basket is in the school hallway if you would like to contribute to this endeavor.

MILK COSTS

Due to the cost of milk more than doubling, beginning in January the cost of hot lunch with milk will be $2.25 and milk only will be .50 cents.

The hot lunch menu for January is included with today’s newsletter.

ICCP Families

It is that time of year to update your file with the ICCP Program.  It is very important that you do this before the end of the year to avoid a hold up with payment processing.  Please remember you are responsible for the portion that ICCP does not cover and your account must remain current.  If you have any questions please contact Miss Shauntel or your case worker.  Thank you!

DECEMBER PAY-OFF

All the good little boys and girls of Holy Spirit Catholic School will be treated to bowling next Thursday, Dec. 16.  Students in grade K-2 will begin loading the bus at 12:15 and returning at 1:30; students in grades 3-6 will load the bus at 1:15 and return at 2:30.

LOS POSADAS

Join the school as we host an evening of the Los Posados celebration.  What is Los Posados you ask?  It is a holiday that is celebrated in Mexico and lasts for nine nights.  Each night, children and their families reenact the story of Mary and Joseph trying to find lodging in Bethlehem.  Families travel to neighborhood houses holding lighted candles and are turned away until they reach the house where the festivities of the night are being held.  Once that house is found, they are welcomed in to join the celebration.

We will begin our own rendition of this celebration on Monday, Dec. 17 at 7:00 p.m.  We will gather as a group in the front hallway of the school and then travel from classroom to classroom together, so don’t be late!  We are looking forward to being a part of this celebration, so please join us!

NUTCRACKER TREAT

The Pocatello Rotary Club is paying for our 4th, 5th and 6th graders to attend a performance of The Nutcracker on Monday, Dec. 17 at 9:30 a.m.  We think this is a great treat for the kids and appreciate the thoughtfulness of the Rotary Club.

The Childcare will be open on Dec 21, 26, 27, and Dec 28, during Christmas Break.  We will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.  If you will need childcare any of the open days, please notify the childcare staff as soon as possible.

KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS

The Knights of Columbus “Keep Christ In Christmas” car magnets are now available for $5.00 each.  This is a wonderful way to silently remind all of us to focus on the true meaning of Christmas and not get caught up in the craziness.  The magnets come in white with a black outline and are easily colored with permanent markers if you want to personalize.
