NAN-O-GRAM

Last night was just fabulous! I get such a kick out of watching all of you having such a great time with your kids. And I really, really get a kick out of watching the expressions on adult faces when kids stump them at a math challenge. But isn’t that what it’s all about…affirming and supporting their learning in a fun, interactive and positive way?

On another note, many thanks to all who have fulfilled their auction commitments. Just as important as involvement in family activity nights is help with fundraisers. We could not have extra functions for the kids and their families without funding…and you are the vital component. Missoula Children’s Theater, Idaho Theater for Youth, pizza and drinks at school family nights, P.E. equipment, reading software…and the list goes on…are all for the children, and your financial support makes it all possible. I want to thank you in advance for doing your part for the auction, our major fundraiser of the year, and supporting our school as you do.

            Keep reading to your kids!

INCREASED HOT LUNCH FEES

Don’t forget that the cost of hot lunch with milk is now $2.25 and milk only is .50 cents due to the increase in the cost of milk and other dairy products.

MID TERMS GO HOME

Students in grades 4-6 will receive mid term grades next Wednesday, Jan. 16.

FOOD ARRIVING

Bakin’ Barb is expecting a truckload of food to be delivered next Wednesday, Jan. 16 @ 7:30 a.m.  Any help she can get in getting the food unloaded and down in the cafeteria would be greatly appreciated and it counts for service hours too!

MATURATION CLASS

Tomorrow, Jan. 11, the 5th and 6th grade girls and boys will have a presentation from the S.E. Idaho Health Dept. regarding maturation.  The presentation will begin at 12:45 p.m. and parents are welcome to attend.  Permission slips were sent home yesterday with this group of students so that they may attend.  This class is an informational presentation, and discusses the process of maturation that these students are beginning to go through and what they will continue to go through.

LAST CHANCE!!!

SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING SESSION

Attention anyone who has not attended a S.E.T. session and wants to be involved at the school, i.e., class parties, field trips, volunteering.  We have scheduled a training session for Thursday, January 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of Holy Spirit Catholic Chapel.  Please mark your calendars now and plan on attending as this may be the last training session offered this school year!!!!

AUCTION UPDATE

Oh my, the event of the year is just around the corner and there is still so much to do!!  As Mrs. Corgiat said, we need everyone’s help in making this night a success, so here’s a little checklist for you:

1.        Have you circled Feb. 2, 2008 on your calendar?  The silent auction begins at 6:00 p.m., dinner begins @ 7:00 p.m. and the live auction begins @ 8:00 p.m.

2.      Have you brought your auction item into the school?  Either one you have solicited from a local business or one you are donating yourself?  Or even better both??

3.       Have you bought your ticket?  Tickets are $25.00 per person, which gets you a yummy dinner, catered by the Bistro and of course entry to the auction.  PLUS the opportunity to have an evening of FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!  Plus one more bonus, for every ticket you purchase by JAN. 18, you will receive 1 service hour!!

4.      Have you invited your friends, co-workers and relatives to come to the auction?  This really is a fun event and the more the merrier, so invite, invite, invite!  Tables will be set for 8 people.

5.       Have you volunteered to help with the auction?  It really is a big job, so once again the more the merrier, and easier the task!  To get involved contact Dawn at 2332-1196 ext. 18.

PALMS

Once again we will be collecting Palms to be burned for this year’s distribution on Ash Wednesday.  If you still have your palms please send them in with your child to be given to their teacher.  Thanks!

WINTER WEATHER

Okay, we’ll talk about this again, because I’m sure that sooner or later we are sure to get a SNOW DAY!!  It really is pretty easy. If School District 25 closes school due to the weather we will close for the full day and if the school closes so does child care!  Okay, now pray for snow!!!

FREE THROW CONTESTS

Saturday, Jan. 19 is “contest day” for both boys and girls ages 8-14 who like to shoot “free throws.”  Beginning at 12:00 p.m. the local Elks Club will be holding their contest in Reed Gym on the ISU campus.  This competition is for boys and girls ages 8-13.  Please pre-register with Joe Richmond at 234-1873.  Then the Knights of Columbus will have their contest beginning at 2:00 p.m. and going until 5:00 in the school gym.  Pre-registration is not necessary for this contest but you can contact Kerry Hennessy @ 317-0222 with any questions.

Both contests are FREE to participate in and are national competitions.  So step on up to the line!!
