NAN-O-GRAM
As a parish, we are once again participating in the Progressive Dinner segment of the community wide, interdenominational ‘Feed the 5000’ food collection and hunger awareness campaign. Our commitment for the dinner is dessert. I am asking all of you, but only if you would like, to contribute to this worthy event by bringing in a cake, pan dessert, or pie to share at the dinner scheduled for Saturday, March 1. Last year over 150 people attended so several desserts are needed. Please bring the dessert to the school the morning of Friday, February 29th or when attending your child’s Parent Teacher Conference and I will see that it gets next door for delivery to the dinner. Let me know if you would like to help.
Thank you!
Keep
reading to your terrific kids!

POSITIVE THINGS BOX
Lent is often a Church season that people
tend to look at as “depressing.” True,
it is a season when we are asked to abstain from something we enjoy, to give of
ourselves more than usual and give up some of our time to spend in prayer with
the Lord, BUT by doing these things we are really giving ourselves a great gift
by becoming closer to God.
In an effort to help the
students become less afraid of Lent, we have set up a “POSITIVE THINGS BOX.” Lent
is truly a season of giving of ourselves, and by doing positive things such as:
holding open a door, giving a compliment, thanking someone, etc., we are
sharing the gift of kindness, which brings us closer to God. So, please encourage your child to pick an
item from the box, make sure they follow through with their positive thing and
discuss how good it made them feel as well as the impact it had on the other
person. God wants us to be happy,
loving, giving people!

HELP
WANTED
Part time
Janitor. As many of you know, Bakin’ Barb
will be retiring at the end of the school year.
Richard Howlett, our maintenance man, bus driver and general help out
everywhere guy, will be taking Barb’s place.
Some of you may be surprised, but Richard does have extensive chef
experience. Have you tasted his
cheesecake?!?! We would like for Richard
to start phasing into the hot lunch program soon. Therefore we are looking for a part time
janitor to help out in the school and childcare. The hourly pay is $7.25 per hour. Hours are relatively flexible. If you or anyone you know is interested,
please contact the school office (232-5763) or Richard (244-1107).
HELP WANTED
Next Friday, Feb. 22, Bakin’ Barb will
have a truckload of food arriving @
“JUNIOR” LEGO LEAGUE
“Would your 4th or 5th
grader like to participate in a “Junior” Lego League
activity at the school this spring? The
in-house event is expected to be a fun-filled team building exercise that
challenges your child’s mental creativity while preparing them for the rigors
of the 6th grade competition.
Interested students will meet after school between February 25th
and March 14th for approximately 1.5 hours, three times a week
(exact times to be determined based upon response). We need at least one additional parent
volunteer to assist Mike Huston. The
cost will depend upon participation and could be as high as $5.00 per
student. If you are interested or have
further questions, please call Mike at 238-8385 or e-mail rogerhuston@juno.com.”
RECONCILIATION
Congratulations to all our second grade
students who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation last Saturday. It went very smoothly, the students were
great as were the priests Fr. Enrique and Fr. Ben. Next step – First Communion!!!
IRI TESTING
The first through third grade students
completed the Idaho Reading Indicator test this week. Parents, please ask your child’s teacher how
they did. We saw lots of improvement, so
we’re very happy!

THE 5,000
During this season of giving,
the season of Lent, Holy Spirit is once again collecting canned foods and
non-perishable items as a part of the non-denominational community efforts of
“Feed the 5000.” The campaign will run
from now until Palm Sunday. Beginning
Monday, our school will be gathering items to be given to the St. Vincent de
