                     KEEP IN PRAYERS

No “Nan-o-Gram” this week as Mrs. Corgiat is in California to be with her father who was hospitalized last week.  Please keep them in your prayers.

Also, as many of you may already know, Miss Shauntel has been under the weather for the past couple of weeks.  Please keep her in your prayers too!  We miss her and want her back!!

LETTER OF INTENT

If you are planning on your child (ren) returning to Holy Spirit Catholic School for the 2008/09 school year and you have not returned your Letter of Intent, please do so now!  A Letter of Intent is the only way to guarantee that your child will have a spot for next year!  A non-refundable deposit of $100 per family is also required.  Beginning next week, we will begin to enroll new students, so make sure your child has a spot!

If you have any questions regarding these Letters or are unable to make your deposit at this time, please see Miss Polly in the school office.

FINANCIAL AID – SCHOLARSHIPS

If you will need financial assistance next year, please stop by the school office and pick up an application.  These applications must be completed and returned by the 30th of April.

FIRST COMMUNION VEILS

Miss Cindi reported that she saw veils for sale at Joanne’s Fabric for 50% off.  She thought they would work great for First Communion Veils, so if you’re in the market you might want to check them out!

BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Thank you to everyone who helped with the basketball tournament last week.  It was lots and lots of work but the kids seemed to really have a good time!  A great big thank you to Kirk and Mary Weber, who practically lived at Reed’s Gym, plus all the time they put in before the tournament.

SHORTS OKAY!

In accordance to our Student Handbook, the students can begin wearing shorts to school on April 1.  Shorts must be black or khaki and fingertip

length.  Just a reminder for the students that cold legs do not mean you get to stay inside!

Also, remember shorts are not acceptable wear for Mass!  Yellow tickets will be issued to offenders.

BOOK FAIR HELP

We have a Book Fair scheduled for the last week of April, but we need someone to be in charge of it.  Please contact Miss Polly if you feel this is something you could do…….it’s easy!!

LET’S GO FLY A KITE

Tomorrow, April 4th, we are going to introduce a new Pay-off activity…kite flying! We will be taking the primary grades down the street to Tydeman Park and the older kids will go to Bartz Field. Kids are asked to create or bring their kites from home.  PTC will make sure each child who wants a kite will have one for that day, or something to fly in the air. With windy weather almost a given, this should be a wild, fun afternoon!

DO YOU KNOW SHINGLES?

With all the lovely wind we had this past winter, our preschool building lost some shingles and need to be replaced.  Unfortunately, none of us know how to fix them (NOT EVEN RICHARD!!!). So, before we pay someone to fix them we were wondering if anyone out there knows how.  We will be happy to pay for the needed supplies, if someone can do the labor.  This would count towards your service hours and of course bonus points with those who count – ha…ha….  If you can help, please contact Richard @ 244-1107 or Miss Polly in the school office.

SCHOOL LOGO APPAREL

Attached to today’s newsletter is an order form for school logo “spirit day wear.”  All orders need to be returned to the school office by April 15.

2nd Annual Spell-a-thon

The 2nd Annual Spell-a-thon is coming up on Friday, April 11th.  Your child should have brought home a Spell-a-thon packet on Monday, March 31st. Included in the packet is a green information sheet, a pledge sheet with solicitation script and of course the list of grade appropriate spelling words.

This is an easy, fun and educational fundraiser.  Get those pledges!  Study those spelling words!  It’s as simple as that!

If a Spell-a-thon packet did not come home, please ask your child’s teacher.

School Pop & Lands’ End

Lands’ End offers quality uniform clothing and School Pop donates 5% of your purchase to Holy Spirit.  It is quite simple.  Go to schoolpop.com and click on register.  Joining is easy and free.  Choose Holy Spirit Catholic School to benefit from your purchases and complete your profile and preferences.  Under category search, choose Land’s End and then click on Visit Lands’ End Home Page.  Shop as usual.

While you’re at the School Pop website, check out the other merchants who participate in the program.

APRIL’S PARTNERS IN FAITH

Make sure to take a minute and read this month’s issue of Partners in Faith.  Some of the highlights are:

  • Discipline works better when children understand that they are loved.  The lead article on page l give parents ideas for strengthening their affection connection.
  • Sometimes we think we have gotten away with sin if we don’t get caught.  The lead article on page 2 tells the story of Susanna, who rejected anonymous sin.
  • Once more, readers learn of the benefits of taking their families to Mass every Sunday in our “Why do Catholics do that?” feature.
