END OF YEAR NEWSLETTER

                Here it is the last day of the 2007-2008 school year.  The year just seemed to fly by!  Please take a minute before beginning your summer fun and read these brief notes as well as the attachments.  Thanks and have a splendid summer!!!!

 

SCHOOL STUFF

·         FORMS -Attached is a school calendar for 2008-2009, uniform regulations, school supply list for 2008-2009 and registration forms for those who have not yet returned them.

·         SCHOOL FEES -Remember all outstanding fees such as hot lunch iou’s, childcare, lost classroom and library books, 2007-2008 school tuition and next year’s registration need to be paid by June 6, 2008.  If these fees are not paid by the 6th your child’s spot for next year will not be held for them until they are paid in full.

·         FREE LUNCH - Don’t forget to stop in for lunch this summer in the school cafeteria.  “Chef Rich” will be serving lunch between 11:30 and 12:30 Monday through Friday FREE for anyone less than 18 years of age.  The school is paid money from the State for every lunch served, so save yourself money and help the school too!

·         PENNY POWER - Our “Penny Power” for Miss Shauntel was a HUGE SUCCESS!!!  The Student Council presented her a check for $1,550.00!!!  Plus we have had people bring in more money to donate in the past couple of days!  God bless each and every one of you who were so very, very generous!

·         Summer Office Hours:  The school office will be closed tomorrow, May 29, 2008 to enjoy the first day out of school!  The next week, June 2 – June 6, we will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  The schedule gets a little crazy after that – we will be open every Wednesday from June 11 – July 2 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and then starting July 15 we will be here from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday which will continue through the rest of the summer.  Messages can be left on the answering machine at 232-5763.  Payments and forms can also be sent through the mail – Holy Spirit Catholic School, 540 N. 7th, Pocatello, ID  83201.

·         good-bye and hello – A heartfelt good-bye goes out to Mrs. Betty, Miss Angela and Bakin’ Barb.  Thank you to all of you for your help in making our school such an incredible success.  We love all of you and will miss you!  We would like to say hello to our new first grade teacher Jennifer Jechart or “Miss J” and              

      the new P.E. teacher, Lester Stewart.  We are looking forward to you both joining our school community!!

  • BRING HOME CHIEF POCATELLO - Syringa Wireless at 200 S. Main will be displaying art, poems, and reports about Pocatello and what it means to live here that have been done by our first and fourth grade students. These items will be displayed through the month of June.
  • REEL MOVIE TICKETS – Are you planning on going to the Summer Kid Shows at the Reel Theatre this summer?  If so make sure you stop by the school office to purchase your tickets.  Ticket packages are $6.50 for 11 movies, plus a bonus show and two single free tickets for a friend, plus the school will receive $1.25 for each ticket package we sell!

 

SUMMER COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

  • Lasso the Lord Ranch Summer Bible School is being sponsored by Holy Spirit Catholic Community.  The camp will be held July 14-17 at St. Paul’s Chapel.  See the attached registration form for more details.
  • Shirley Foster Memorial “FUN” Walk/Run on June 7th beginning at 1:00 p.m.  All proceeds go to a scholarship fund for Holy Spirit Catholic School.  Suggested donation is $20.00 per person.  Registration forms are available in the school office or you can contact Meg or Jerry Downey at Downeys6@cableone.net.  This is a family event, so everyone is welcome to join in on the celebration of Shirley’s life.  A bar-b-que with Steelhead Red and auction will follow the walk.
  • Kinport Brian S. Reams Memorial Three on Three Basketball Tournament scheduled for June 13 & 14.  This tournament is open to 4th graders on up with a special category for those 18 and older.  Cost for teams in the 4th grade – 12th grade division is $20.00 per team and $80.00 for teams in the 18 and above division.  Cash prizes will be given.  For more information see Miss Polly in the school office or contact Jeff Klinger @ 208-521-1345 or www.kinportjunction.com.
  • Hershey Track & Field Meet – This track and field event is being sponsored by the City of Pocatello for boys & girls ages 9-14 as of Dec. 31, 2008.  This event is scheduled for May 31 – this Saturday!!  For more information call 232-3901.  All entrants MUST pre-register!
